Sponsors meet U15 football squad members

Jun 11, 2024

Bates Weston had the opportunity to meet the U15 football squad they sponsor this week.
Derby County Community Trust’s Female Talent Pathway (FTP) began last year. It fields 9 youth teams for aspiring young female footballers in Derbyshire and surrounding areas. It is going from strength to strength, with over 600 footballers trying out for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The ultimate aim is to provide players for Derby County Football Club Women’s First Team.

By any measure, the first season of the FTP has been fantastic, with lots of positive results on and off the pitch for the players.

Bates Weston sponsored the U15s squad, who have had a great season, coming second in their league. Two members of the U15s squad, Grace and Olivia, along with Michael Noon – Football and Education lead at Derby County Community Trust, visited Bates Weston’s offices on Canal Street, Derby to present the company with a signed squad shirt.

Kay Brookes, Partner at Bates Weston comments:

“We were delighted to sponsor the U15 football squad. They have had an impressive season and it was great to meet squad members, Grace and Olivia. Grace and Olivia are positive, keen and enthusiastic young women, who clearly have a passion for their sport.”

Grace has been playing since she was 11years old and Olivia since she was 6. Supported by their parents, they are a great example of the results training and commitment can bring.

Olivia is a central defender, and Grace plays at the back. Both like a good clean tackle! They are vocal on and off the pitch, keen to support their team and their colleagues.

Wayne Thomas – Managing Partner at Bates Weston comments:

“Grace and Olivia clearly love the game. With that kind of passion and determination, their futures are bright. We have enjoyed being part of the U15s journey this year and supporting the Female Talent Pathway for the 23/24 season. We look forward to seeing what next season brings.”
