Congratulations to Derby County Women on their 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town Women on Sunday
Amy Sims, Eleanor Ashton and Charlotte Steggles all scored as Derby County Women beat Huddersfield Town Women 3 – 1 at the Don Amott Arena on Sunday 11 Feb.
Bates Weston, who sponsor the Under 15’s squad on Derby County’s Female Talent Pathway, were invited to watch the first team play.
Kay Brookes, partner at Bates Weston commented:
“We really enjoyed seeing the first team in action and so many young supporters at the match, all keen to meet their heroes. We’re glad to be doing our bit in support of the Female Talent Pathway”.
Kay also wanted to thank the team at DCFCW for their hospitality on Sunday.
“We were made very welcome and we all really enjoyed the day”.
Apart from the win, the other highlight for Ella Tomlinson, the 10-year-old daughter of Adam Walker, Relationship Manager at Bates Weston, was getting to take part in Ewie’s Penalty Shootout at half time.
Adam says:
“Ella had the best day. She met the Ewes; she scored a penalty at half time and the Ewes won. Just brilliant.”
Ella plays for her local U11s team, Heanor Hurricanes and she is just the kind of youngster the Female Talent Pathway is designed for. It aims to develop local talent from U10 to U20 level, ultimately supplying players for the Ewes.
Ella is pictured here, meeting Ewes manager Sam Griffiths. Sam said of the 3-1 return to winning form:
“I was really happy with the second half. I thought the team were brilliant. It was important that we took 3 points today to keep progressing in the League.”
