Read our round up of the hot topics affecting the Charities and Not for Profit sector in our latest newsletter.
In this edition, we look at research from the Charity Commission for England and Wales which surprisingly suggests that the majority of charities expect to be in the same or better financial position than they were pre-pandemic. We would suggest that the survey, conducted in October of 2021, would perhaps reach a different conclusion were it to be repeated today. Certainly many charities are now concerned about the rising rates of inflation, the impact on their finances and on the demand for their services.
In addition we look at guidance issued to charities regarding cyber security arrangements and awareness of sanctions against Russia, in light of the war in Ukraine; recap the new legislation contained in the Charities Act 2022; consider who might be affected by the need to make climate-related financial disclosures and the impact the Chancellor’s planned reduction in the basic rate of income tax to 19% from April 2024 will have on Gift Aid.
