Green Recovery Challenge Fund

Jul 1, 2020

The £40 million Green Recovery Challenge Fund announced yesterday will help charities and environmental organisations start work on projects across England to restore nature and tackle climate change.
It aims to help conservation organisations and their suppliers create up to 3,000 jobs and safeguard 2,000 more, chiefly to protect and restore the natural environment and find nature-based solutions to tackling climate change.

Further details will be published and bids invited from organisations in due course. The Green Recovery Challenge Fund forms part of the government’s plans to “build back better, build back greener, build back faster”.

In promoting a clean, green recovery the Prime Minister set out a series of measures for:

  • Transport; focussing on electric vehicle supply chains, charging networks and zero emission long haul passenger aircraft
  • Natural infrastructure; re-foresting Britain and the Green Recovery Challenge Fund
  • Innovation; R & D to develop new clean technology – specifically Direct Air Capture – which captures CO2 emissions from the air around us, carbon pricing and incentives
