Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
As a firm we strive to have a positive impact on our people, our local community and on the environment.
Our Staff:
We actively recruit trainees who can undertake the AAT apprenticeship scheme as well as our graduate recruitment programme, which follows the ICAEW professional training route, offering a highly successful training programme. Continual Professional Development is encouraged and supported and career development is formally reviewed each year through an annual appraisal process. We encourage staff to feel positive and encouraged about our impact on the wider environment and society. They help us to identify where we can be greener and do more to help and support our community.
The Environment:
We minimise our impact on the environment by minimising the use of paper, selecting green suppliers, and reducing and recycling waste paper.
In our office we use energy efficient options wherever possible, select fixtures and fittings from green suppliers, place cleaning contracts with green suppliers using environmentally friendly materials, and adopt a travelling expenses system that encourages low emission options and car sharing.
Our Community:
We support higher education through our continued association with the University of Derby, promote the local community as a bondholder in Marketing Derby, support the local economy through our choice of local suppliers and support charities through our an annual charitable donation, as well as fundraising for Breast Cancer Awareness, Macmillan and Save the Children.
Net Zero:
Bates Weston recognises the threat that climate change poses to the economy, nature and society and is taking steps to halve our emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Following guidance issued by the SME Climate Hub, the Carbon Trust and the 1.5° Business Playbook we will look for ways to reduce our own emissions, emissions in our supply chains, and support our employees, clients and community in adopting sustainable practises and removing or reducing their own emissions.
